There’s so much going on in this film at any one given time that it’s easy to miss some things.

Definitely lacking when compared to Jackie Chan’s later stuff.

A seemingly heartwarming film ruined by inane developments and humor.

So self-absorbed that it makes the mistake of thinking its characters and their lives are interesting.

Contains less of what makes a Jackie Chan film a Jackie Chan film.

A quirky and fairly refreshing take on the typical “hitman” film.

A harrowing film about the cycles of abuse.

Visually, this may be one of the most impressive films I’ve ever seen.

A mythological action film based on ancient Norwegian myths.

For anyone who fancies themself a patron of true cinema, this film is required viewing.

One moment, Orphans is tragic and moving, the next hilarious, the next downright disturbing.

For a movie that’s about a famous swordsman, we actually see very little of him.

If you’re looking for a film that doesn’t trivialize the struggles that faith and conviction can bring, this is a good one.

There are times when the movie gets a little mushy and melodramatic, but for the most part, it’s a blast to watch.

For the most part, the fights are brutal and gory. But it’s good for the kitsch factor.

I just can’t get enough of movies with ensemble casts, wierd plots, and a sense of continuity that refused to go from Point A to Point B.

This Russian sci-fi film is probably most comparable to Stanley Kubrick’s 2001.

As far as mindless action flicks go, I’d probably prefer this to some musclebound action hero spouting cheesy dialog.

I just didn’t find it to be the great thriller it was made out to be.
