Haunting female-fronted atmospheric music in the vein of Flying Saucer Attack and Low.

Dirty Three play a blend of swampy yet cliché-less blues, minimalist jazz, and scaled down chamber music.

Whilst requiring more work on behalf of the listener, ultimately this is an experience every bit as rewarding as Rachel’s earlier albums.

Like so many things, brevity is the soul of this album. The amazing thing is just how vast that brevity sounds.

It’s not all bad but there are far more interesting examples of this genre to be discovered.

Asha Vida do wake up echoes of early Verve in a couple of the songs on Nature’s Clumsy Hand.

This is the wonderful sound of a rock band that sounds like a machine you’re afraid to get close to for fear your shirt might catch in the gears and your arms will get ripped off.

Sounds like a Fugazi clone with a horn player and a strange sort of intensity that got lost in the translation.

Pure contemplative magic.

Compared to other post-rock artists, there’s something surprisingly raw and brutal about Supercollider’s music.

The beauty of South’s music lies in its repetition.

It’s probably accurate to say that this album best bridged the gap between dreampop, techno, ambient, and jungle.

These songs will wrap themselves around you, like half-remembered pictures, sounds, and smells.

They do such traditionally no-smiles allowed, experimental things, but with a real sense of humor.

If I look at the album’s high points, I could listen to a double album of that stuff.

I could take 84 minutes of this and not just a tad over a half hour like they gave me instead.

Wonderful CD, looking forward to more, and to getting the rest of this band’s back catalog.

Five Style’s musical hyperactivity makes for an interesting, albeit exhausting listen.

This is one dirty album, and wonderfully so at that.

It’s pretty obvious what kind of sound they’re going for, and it’s not a bad sound.
