Reviews of Matador Records Titles

Mogwai proves they’re still very capable of taking familiar sounds and crafting beautiful, compelling music with them.

Perfect and stunning.

Aereogramme always seems to introduce a fatal flaw into their songs.

My Father My King is ultimately an extremely loud footnote in Mogwai’s history.

At the moment, it’s the most fascinating thing I’ve listened to in a long time.

Mogwai change up their sound a bit with more emphasis on vocals, to excellent results.

Cat Power used to be one of those bands that I lumped in with “all the rest of the indie crap that’s not drone.”

This is one dirty album, and wonderfully so at that.

Listening to this band, you wish they get everything they long for, because if they do, that means there’s a small chance you might get it too.

Picks right up where their ferocious debut, 1997’s Young Team, left off.

My less-informed-than-some view is that Yo La Tengo are steadily getting more subtle, more heady, and better with age.
