“Isao Takahata” Archives

The “Grave of the Fireflies” director was one of the founders of the legendary Studio Ghibli.

The ending of Isao Takahata’s masterpiece leaves me choked up every time I watch it.

Also: The ethics of technological artifacts, a Studio Ghibli artwork gallery, and lots of cool military tech and tactics.

Now that Studio Ghibli seems to be in a twilight stage of its existence, I’m doubly interested in Mami Sunada’s documentary.

Studio Ghibli’s other master releases his first film in 14 years, a retelling of a classic Japanese fairy tale.

To be honest, I don’t think I want to meet a person who could watch this film and not be moved by the plight of Seita and Setsuko.
