The new solo project from Writ on Water’s frontman is an abundance of darkly atmospheric dream pop and post-punk.

It should come as no shock that A Wingless King, the group’s newest full-length, sounds somewhat like a musical artifact unstuck in time.

At times, it wonders into brief avant-garde experimentation, but even that is well done, building up tense atmospheres.
