Where The Days Go’s most interesting tracks are those that let a little noise scuff up July Skies’ burnished sound a bit.

The quieter parts of the album are what feel like the real Bartell.

As with all of Caul’s work, there can be beauty, reverence, and warmth, even in the darkest and most foreboding of places and sounds.

As familiar as Guthrie’s music might be, it rarely sounds stale or recycled.

Compared to previous EPs like Svefn-G-Englar and Ný Batterí, Sæglopur’s b-sides are of a much subtler, more delicate bent.

There’s something infectious, toe-tapping, and even joyous about the album as a whole.

There are moments where the band transcends any potential limitations of said genre, and prove such knee-jerk reactions wrong.

These songs are fragile, tender, ephemeral things… and they are best experienced and celebrated as such.
