Given Godspeed You! Black Emperor’s outsized influence and reputation, it’s easy to forget about the rest of Constellation Records’ acclaimed roster. Chief among those artists is Do Make Say Think, another Canadian collective that emerged in the mid ’90s that excelled in producing instrumental music.

But whereas Godspeed traffics in harrowing, post-apocalyptic soundscapes, Do Make Say Think combines elements of jazz, krautrock, and psychedelia to create inexorable grooves filled with intricate arrangements, driving rhythms (courtesy of the band’s dual drummer attack), and drifting textures. Clocking in at nearly 13 minutes, “Goodbye Enemy Airship” fills every single second with a richly layered sound that feels as limitless as the sky while, at the same time, locked in with a clockmaker’s precision.
