This one’s our song, the song that we walked out of our wedding to, and into a new life together. I first heard it on my friend Aaron’s blog and was instantly fascinated by its simple groove and earnest lyrics.

David Byrne intended it to be a love song without any of the usual clichés, and at first, his lyrics seem odd and nonsensical. But that’s precisely what made them so affecting and endearing. Because Renae and I got married later in life, at an age when the possibility of finding someone seemed increasingly remote, “I can’t tell one from another/Did I find you, or you find me?” perfectly captures the joy that we did, in fact, find each other.

And of course, as homebodies who’d just as soon stay in and read or watch a movie, how could we not love a song that starts off with “Home is where I want to be”? Because that’s precisely where we want to be all the time.
