Five years have passed since the two robots in Daft Punk went their separate ways. But their music continues to inspire, something that Métal Hurlant — the French comics anthology that gave rise to Heavy Metal here in the States — is highlighting with a recently announced special issue devoted to Daft Punk.

The issue will contain 272 pages of comics and articles exploring the universe of Daft Punk, with contributions from 30 artists and writers including Laura Pérez (Nocturnos), Malachi Ward (Black Hammer, Citizen: Stardust), Matthew Sheean (Prophet), Édouard Cour (Herakles), Jonathan Djob Nkondo (Scavenger’s Reign, Wandering), Zep (Titeuf), and even the legendary Mœbius. (Randall Roberts has more information about the issue, including some sneak peaks at its artwork.)

The issue will be released as hardcover, softcover, and PDF, and will feature two different covers: the “Standard” edition by Anuj Shrestha and the “Exclusive” edition by Cédric Hervet and Warren Fu, the duo responsible for the artwork of Daft Punk’s final studio album, 2013’s Random Access Memories.

Métal Hurlant’s Daft Punk issue is now available for preorder, with an expected release sometime in mid-January 2027. The “Exclusive” edition will only be sold online and will not be available in bookstores.
