Three Classic Michael Knott Albums Are Coming to Vinyl

When he died in 2024, Michael Knott left behind one of the most iconic — and mercurial — catalogs in the history of Christian music, consisting of dozens of titles released under both his own name and numerous monikers. Retroactive Records recently announced reissues of three of those titles, each one representing a different aspect of Knott’s music, and all three will be released on vinyl for the first time.
Lifesavers’ A Kiss of Life (1986, Frontline Records) is one of Knott’s earlier releases, and found him embracing a mix of post-punk and new wave on songs like “She’s On Fire.”
L.S.U.‘s Grace Shaker (1994, Alarma Records) was one of the first Knott albums that I ever heard, and it’s one of his most gut-wrenching, filled with sobering songs about depravity, addiction, self-destruction, and God’s boundless grace.
Finally, Fluid (1995, Alarma Records) was one of Knott’s rock operas (see also The Grape Prophet), this time about a young woman on a downward spiral.
All three albums will be released on both limited edition vinyl and CD, and will feature new artwork as well as extended liner notes written by Matt Crosslin. (Crosslin runs Knottheads, the unofficial Michael Knott/Blonde Vinyl archive, as well as Down the Line Magazine.)
The Kiss of Life vinyl will be released in November 2026 while the Grace Shaker and Fluid vinyls will be released in January 2027. All three CD reissues will be released in November 2026.
