“Velvia” by A.L.I.S.O.N

For nearly a decade now, French producer A.L.I.S.O.N has been perfecting a form of ultra-sleek yet contemplative and emotional synthesizer music. (“Synthesizing dreams,” as they put it.)

“Velvia” is the first single from the upcoming A.E.R.O, their followup to 2024’s Tape #4 and several years’ worth of singles and EPs. It’s filled with the producer’s trademarks, e.g., lots of graceful, wistfully ebbing synth arpeggios that sound like they’re carved from a single block of chrome. Many who hear it will probably make some Stranger Things comparisons, which makes sense — especially if you imagine the Netflix series being set in the year 2483, and Hawkins is actually a moon base or space station.

A.E.R.O will be released on June 5, 2026.
