Are you in the mood to watch In the Mood for Love in theaters?
In Wong Kar-wai’s heartbreaking In the Mood for Love, two neighbors — played by Tony Leung Chiu-wai and Maggie Cheung — discover that their spouses are having an affair, and as they struggle with the revelation, find themselves falling into a similar pattern. Put simply, it’s one of the most sumptuous and gorgeous films ever made, filled with lush cinematography, an incredible sense of style and place, and a palpable sense of heartache.
This year marks the film’s 25th anniversary; it debuted at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2000, with a Hong Kong release the following September. To mark the occasion, The Playlist reports that Janus Films is offering a series of 25th anniversary screenings throughout North America, Canada, and the UK. As an added bonus, the film will be accompanied by In the Mood for Love 2001, a rarely seen short that also stars Tony Leung Chiu-wai and Maggie Cheung.
