“Comforting Sounds” by Mew

The Danish rock band concluded their final show with one of their most epic tunes.

Somehow, I’d completely missed the news that Danish rock band Mew was calling it quits, with leader singer/frontman Jonas Bjerre announcing his departure. The band played their final show ever — in their current form, anyway — earlier this month in London, and Jon Hicks blogged about the experience. Hicks also shared the above video of the band’s final song, a stirring rendition of “Comforting Sounds,” the epic closer on 2003’s Frengers.

Mew’s most recent album was 2017’s Visuals. Back in 2007, I was fortunate to catch Mew on their tour for 2005’s And the Glass Handed Kites, and it was a mind-blowing and soul-stirring experience.
