I’ve not exactly been shy when it comes to praising The Expanse. Back in 2020, I called it “the best sci-fi show on TV right now,” an assertion that I still stand behind. (And the novels on which it’s based are pretty awesome, too.) Set 200 years in the future, The Expanse chronicles the struggle between various factions of humanity, a struggle that’s exacerbated when a bizarre alien technology is discovered, one that offers humanity vast new opportunities — and exposes it to an unimaginable new threat.

Originally produced by the Syfy network and then by Amazon, The Expanse ran for six acclaimed and beloved seasons. (Nerdy sidenote: Only the first six of the original nine novels were adapted. The last three novels weren’t adapted because they include a time jump of 30 years, which might have presented some production issues.) All six of those seasons are now coming to DVD and Blu-ray on November 14; click here to preorder (and support Opus).

There’s no word yet concerning extras or special features, but the set includes a whopping 15 discs, so maybe there will be some cool behind-the-scenes and “Making of” featurettes. Despite not always having the biggest budget, The Expanse nevertheless featured an impressive amount of world-building, from the authentic-looking spaceships and equipment to humanity’s various settlements — and it’d be cool to see how all of that came about. In the absence of any special features, though, we’ll still be getting six seasons’ worth of superb sci-fi filled with thrills, excitement, and heart.
