“Corporate Road” by Birds in the Brickwork

Ben Holton’s art project finds beauty in the mundane parts of the British countryside.

In addition to his musical output in Epic45 and The Balloonist, Ben Holton also produces and releases art under the Birds in the Brickwork moniker, which pairs music with various photography projects (e.g., postcards, calendars, photobooks).

Previous projects have explored the impact of humanity on ancient British lands as well as British suburbs and other mundane spaces. As its title implies, Business Park Study #1 is a soundtrack for “a set of postcards depicting the strange peace of a West Midlands business park.” With its dappled ambience, fluttering electronics, and Holton’s own nostalgic sensibilities, “Corporate Road” suggests beauty can be found in even soulless industrial environments.
