“Electric” by The Blue Herons

Back in 2022, I wrote about The Churchhill Garden, the dreampop duo of Andy Jossi and Krissy Vanderwoude. The Garden’s still going strong — they released an excellent single last December titled “Dreamless” — but turns out Jossi is involved in another musical duo, as well.

The Blue Herons is a collaboration with Gretchen DeVault that creates more straightforward indie pop filled with jangly guitars and bouncy melodies a-plenty à la Club 8 and Sarah Records. “Electric,” for example, is an absolutely gorgeous slice of guitar pop highlighted by Jossi’s immaculate arrangements and DeVault’s joyous vocals.

“Electric” was originally released as a single back in 2021, but will be included on the upcoming Go On compilation, which will be released on June 26, 2024 by Subjangle Records.
