“Endless Lullaby” by Redder Moon

On their latest album, If You’re Falling, Dive, Kansas City’s Redder Moon trades in the sort of elegant post-punk/darkwave that’s typically associated with acts like Drab Majesty. For proof of this, listen no further than “Endless Lullaby,” which appears on the album’s second side.

As its name suggests, “Endless Lullaby” is supremely dreamy thanks to layers of moody, Jan Hammer-esque synths and reverbed guitars. Meanwhile, shadowy percussion completes the darkly lush backdrop for Jeremiah James Gonzales’s voice and yearning, impressionistic lyrics (e.g., “A loud beautiful focus falls along the night/At last it kills the pain in the lovers air”).

Had “Endless Lullaby” been released in 1985 rather than 2025, I imagine it would’ve appeared on all manner of heartfelt mixtapes. But relying on ’80s references, though obvious given the song’s synth-heavy production, ultimately feels far too lazy and reductive for a song this rich and evocative.
