The Final Evangelion Film Is Getting a Collector’s Edition, Theatrical Release

The collector’s edition comes with 4K and Blu-ray editions as well as bonus features, a book, and a poster.
Evangelion: 3.0+1.11 Thrice Upon a Time Collectors Edition

In 2021, Hideaki Anno and Studio Khara released Evangelion: 3.0+1.0, the fourth and final film in the “Rebuild of Evangelion” project that began back in 2007 with Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone. Given the nine-year gap between the third and fourth “Rebuild” films, as well as Anno’s focus on other projects like 2016’s Shin Godzilla, it often seemed doubtful that he’d ever finish reworking his seminal anime series.

But here we are, in a post-Evangelion world, and GKIDS have just announced a “Collector’s Edition” release of the final Evangelion film, now titled Evangelion: 3.0+1.11 Thrice Upon a Time.

This edition will feature the film on both 4K UHD and Blu-ray as well as another Blu-ray disc of bonus features, a 28-page book, a poster, and more, all contained in a special box case. A standard Blu-ray edition of the film will also be available as well as a digital-only release.

Note: The previous three Evangelion films were released on Blu-ray/DVD by Funimation and all four films can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.

Both editions of Evangelion: 3.0+1.11 are currently available for pre-order and will ship on October 17, 2023. (The digital release will become available on October 3, 2023.) In related news, GKIDS will also do a limited theatrical run for the fourth Evangelion film this fall — dates and locations TBA — similar to what they did in 2022.
