Gung Hei Fat Choi

Happy New Year, everybody! If you’re up on your Chinese calendar, it is now 4700, the Year of the Sheep. The university has a huge Chinese New Year celebration tomorrow, which I’m really excited about. Most of my exposure to Chinese culture comes from movies, which is a pretty limited view, and I’m looking forward to experiencing more of it.

Today also happens to be my 27th birthday. Methinks the convergence of the two holidays should bring me lots of luck and good fortune. I’ll spare you the typical observations of someone who knows they’re most definitely an adult but is still shocked and surprised when they really think about it. However, they’re there in full effect.
