Follow the dissolution of Hüsker Dü in 1988 and a couple of solo albums, Bob Mould formed Sugar with bassist David Barbe and drummer Malcolm Travis. Together, the trio released some of the most celebrated alternative rock of the early ’90s, and in particular, 1992’s Copper Blue. And now, after 30 years, Sugar has returned with a new single and several 2026 concerts in New York and London.
Sugar’s new single, “House of Dead Memories” (watch the video above), is exactly the sort of catchy, distortion-fueled rock that made Copper Blue such a success. And speaking of Copper Blue, a 4xLP box set of the album’s singles, B-sides, and live recordings will be released on November 28 for Record Store Day Black Friday.
