Life Lessons From David Hasselhoff

What sort of moral formation are my kids missing because Saturday morning cartoons are no longer a thing?

Running between 1983 and 1989, One to Grow On was a series of PSAs that NBC ran on Saturday mornings that featured various celebrities — including Michael J. Fox, Michael Landon, Soleil Moon Frye, Alfonso Ribeiro, Mr. T, and of course, David Hasselhoff — doling out bits of ethical advice.

Beyond the obvious nostalgia of watching the Hoff offer some advice on how to navigate friendship drama, I can’t help wondering (A) how much these PSAs informed my own moral development as a kid and (B) what sort of moral formation my kids are now missing out on because Saturday morning cartoons are no longer a thing.
