Supergroup Red Strat Releases Their Vinyl-Only Debut EP

How’s this for a supergroup: Tim Taber (The Prayer Chain), Jason Martin (Starflyer 59), Steve Dail (Project 86), Rob Withem (Fine China), and Charlie Martin (The Rocky Valentines). That’s Red Strat for you, but despite that impressive lineup, they’ve largely been content to fly under the radar and perform the occasional live show since their inception several years ago.
That’s changing, however, with the release of Red Strat’s self-titled debut 12″ EP via Hello Merch. The EP will be a vinyl-only release — no digital downloads or streaming — and features eight songs with titles like “Draggin on a Heater” and “Hot as Hell.”
One of the EP’s songs — “24 Hours” — previously appeared on the sampler CD for the first issue of Small Sounds Press, and it’s a far cry from what you’d expect from a band featuring members of Starflyer 59 and Fine China. Think less dream pop and shoegaze, and more the sort of raucous music you might hear on a Friday night at the local dive bar.
