Circle of Dust by Circle of Dust (Review)

First of all, if you haven’t already heard the first version of this CD, stop now and make an appointment with your psychologist right now, because friend, you have problems.

OK, is everybody ready now?

I absolutely loved the original of this release, so I was somewhat concerned about what the Circle-man, Scott Albert, might do with it here. (For those who don’t know, this album, originally released in 1992, has been completely recorded for this reissue.)

As it turns out, my fears were entirely unfounded. The result of Albert’s editing is phenomenal! Cybercore at its finest just got better! This re-release is much cleaner-sounding than its predecessor, with all aspects of every song having been completely re-worked. Also, the three new tracks added for this version are great.

The most interesting of those is the hidden track at the end of the CD, “Bed of Nails.” Repetition of a couple lines of lyrics for a very cool 3-and-a-half minutes. The new opener, “Onenemy,” is also really good, with Albert doing the melody thing.

Circle of Dust has managed to make surprisingly good improvements on an already excellent effort. This is a must-have release for anyone wishing to keep their sanity in a world of mediocre product. So…? Go!
