A lot of people have been desperately searching for a decent alternative to Nine Inch Nails. Now it’s here. Not that Skindot is simply a NIN clone, not by a long shot. Their sound does fall in that general area, though, along with a smattering of Circle of Dust influence.
Guitars run through most songs, often from start to end. Fortunately, though, it doesn’t turn into a metal-fest, as the keyboard work still comes through nicely. Lyrically, Skindot is not aimed at the Christian market, and those that are easily offended might find some of the material questionable.
Considering that the band has only been together a short time, the quality of of this CD is quite remarkable and makes a fine replacement for those who have nuked their NIN CDs.
