A Fistful of Dollars by Sergio Leone (1964)
When your kid expresses an interest in watching Sergio Leone’s “Dollars” trilogy, then there’s only one thing you can do, and that’s spin up A Fistful of Dollars as quickly as possible. It’s actually been a few decades since I’d last seen this first installment in the trilogy, but watching it now, it’s easy to see its fingerprints in much of modern cinema. Of course, nobody squints like Clint Eastwood when he’s at his most laconic. And now, in addition to finishing the rest of the “Dollars” trilogy, I have a strong urge to watch Akira Kurosawa’s Yojimbo with my kid.
