I fell in love with For Stars’ music the moment I heard Carlos Forster’s fragile falsetto, which brings a wealth of emotion and sensitivity to the band’s sterling pop arrangements. Oftentimes he’s singing about girls and romance, but on “Lot Like Me,” he waxes a bit more existential, reflecting on how he’s failed to measure up to the expectations of his parents’ generation.

When he sings “And all they want is progress/And all their friends agree/That kids like us are lazy/They’re a lot like me” on the song’s chorus in that delicate croon of his, it becomes the loveliest ballad for losers and slackers that you could possibly imagine.
