Lots of films, both live-action and animated, have tried to capture the look and feel of comics, but none has done it better than Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Packed with stunning artwork and animation that practically leap off the screen, Into the Spider-Verse delivers a true hero’s journey as young Miles Morales tries to balance being a superhero with being a kid and a student — and seems to fail miserably at all of them.

Into the Spider-Verse is filled with lots of heart, particularly when young Miles must wrestle with the effects that his costumed adventuring has on his already fraught family relationships. But the film is never bogged down in melodrama, delivering thrilling action sequences with loads of wit and humor, as much as one could hope for in a film starring ol’ Webhead.
