Who Am I? isn’t as well known or beloved as Jackie Chan’s other films from the ’90s, like Supercop, Drunken Master II, or Rumble in the Bronx. The fact that it came out the same year as Rush Hour, Chan’s Hollywood collaboration with Chris Tucker, certainly did its popularity no favors. Indeed, I didn’t even know this film existed until I chanced upon it on cable TV late one night.

I was instantly hooked, though, and Who Am I? still ranks as one of my favorite Jackie Chan movies. The plot, as expected, is perfunctory, with Chan playing an elite soldier who loses his memory (hence the movie’s title) after his team was betrayed while trying to capture a powerful energy source. But that’s really all just an excuse for Chan to do his thing, and boy does he.

Who Am I? features some of his best and funnest stunts and choreography, from a wooden clog street fight to the climactic rooftop battle and daring escape from Rotterdam’s Willemswerf building.
