Trump’s Easter Morning Message

On Easter morning, when many of us were preparing to observe Christ’s resurrection with family, friends, and fellow believers, Donald Trump saw fit to unleash yet another one of his unhinged rants on Truth Social.

While we were preparing to mark the moment when Christ forever defeated sin and death, our president chose to glory in death and destruction.

While American Christians, many of whom voted for Trump, were preparing to celebrate the fact that Christ has forever rescued our souls from Hell, the president promised to send an entire nation to Hell.

Just a few days ago, on Good Friday, the White House posted a presidential Easter message that opened with these words:

This Easter Sunday, the First Lady and I join with Christians all across our Nation and around the world in rejoicing in the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, whose triumph over sin and victory over death secured the promise of redemption and the hope of eternal life for all who believe in Him as Lord and Savior.

The White Houses’s message, which spoke of hope and unity, was very much in-line with past presidential Easter messages. I suspect, however, that Trump’s mocking, profanity-laced Easter post is far more reflective of what’s truly in his heart.

It’s not a desire for peace and redemption, but rather, a thirst for worldly power that’s been the vain, arrogant through line of his entire presidency. And sadly — if the responses and reactions to Trump’s post are any indication — it seems like a lot of American Christians are not only OK with that, but consider it laudable and praiseworthy.
