Several months ago, Yoko Takahashi — a popular Japanese singer best known for her contributions to the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime franchise — dressed up as a waitress to surprise unsuspecting restaurant patrons with a stirring performance of “A Cruel Angel’s Thesis,” Evangelion’s iconic theme song.
It’s an utterly delightful moment, especially when the backup dancers make their appearance, with Takahashi’s performance even driving some of the patrons to tears. (I don’t blame them. I probably would’ve reacted in a very similar fashion.)
