“Borealyst” by Dead Melodies

The prolific dark ambient composer releases his latest album on Cryo Chamber later this month.

Dead Melodies is one of Cryo Chamber’s most prolific acts, having recorded and released a dozen albums and collaborations since 2017. (And that’s in addition to all of Tom Moore’s self-released titles.)

I’m a little embarrassed that I haven’t covered Dead Melodies before, but I’m making amends concerning his upcoming Echolithia, “an immersive exploration of warped lo-fi frequencies where melancholic melodies and heavy pulsing basses ripple like distant echoes in a dark forgotten realm.”

With a description like that, you should know what to expect, and “Borealyst” more than delivers with ominous Desiderii Marginis-esque soundscapes that evoke one’s arrival upon the shores of a distant and blasted land.

Echolithia will be released by Cryo Chamber on March 25, 2025.
