New Subscriber Playlist: “Favorites of 2024 (So far…)”

Whenever a new year begins, I’m both excited and worried about the music that will emerge over the course of the next twelve months. It’s not that I’m worried I won’t find any good music at all, but rather, how good will it be and how much of it will there be? (Because I’m greedy like that.)

So here we are, mid-way through 2024, and I must say, the year’s shaping up pretty nicely. As its title suggests, this month’s playlist, titled “Favorites of 2024 (So far…),” contains my favorite songs that I’ve heard to date in 2024.

This month’s episode focuses on Desiderii Marginis’ “Night Grasping at Day,” a slab of majestic-yet-ominous dark ambience from one of the genre’s true masters.
