Dan Trachtenberg’s Prey gave the Predator franchise a much-needed shot in the arm with its 18th-century American setting and Native American backdrop (read my review). But this year’s Predator: Badlands, one of my most anticipated movies of 2025, takes the sci-fi franchise into the future.
This time, however, the Predator is the hero when a young outcast Yautja (that’s their official in-universe name) forms an unlikely alliance with a young woman in order to track down and kill the ultimate quarry. The film stars Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi and Elle Fanning, respectively, and it’s clear from the teaser that Predator: Badlands is going to have a very stylized look as opposed to Prey’s more grounded approach.
Predator: Badlands arrives in theaters on November 7, 2025. But as a little appetizer, Hulu will begin streaming the animated Predator: Killer of Killers anthology on June 6, 2025, which consists of three Predator-centric shorts set in Viking-era Scandinavia, feudal Japan, and World War II.
