Go Beyond the Oldest House in Control Resonant’s First Trailer
I thoroughly enjoyed Remedy Entertainment’s Control when I finally got a chance to play it last fall (read my review). Blending brutalist architecture, liminal spaces, Cold War relics, SCP Foundation creepypasta, and a definite sense of the surreal, the game hit a real sweet spot for me. I’ve been eagerly anticipating a sequel, but even so, I was completely taken by surprise when the trailer for Control Resonant popped up on my YouTube feed.
This time around, you play as Dylan Faden, the brother of Control’s protagonist, Jesse Faden. After being contained by the Federal Bureau of Control for years due to his dangerous powers, Dylan is finally released, only to be tasked with confronting a cosmic threat that is altering reality — and finding Jesse, who has gone missing. Fortunately, Dylan still has his powers, not to mention a shape-shifting weapon called the Aberrant that can take the form of spears, swords, and gigantic hammers.
Whereas the first Control was more of a shooter, albeit a very strange one, Control Resonant is billed as an action RPG. And it looks like you’ll be operating outside the nigh-infinite confines of the Oldest House and instead, exploring a Manhattan that is slowly being twisted and undone. As with the first game, everything looks incredible — and incredibly bizarre and trippy. And I can’t wait to explore it all.
Control Resonant will be released in 2026 for macOS, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S.
