“Gonna Need a Vacation” by Fine China

The Arizona-based indie poppers return with a classic-sounding single from their upcoming album.

One 2025 release that I’m really looking forward to is Fine China’s I Felt Called, which will be released by Velvet Blue Music this spring. The Arizona-based band has been a longtime favorite here at Opus HQ, especially after releasing a couple of atmospherically minded singles and EPs.

The first single from the upcoming album, titled “Gonna Need a Vacation,” finds frontman Rob Withem and his collaborators (which include The Rocky Valentines and Starflyer 59’s Charlie Martin on drums) veering closer to the “classic” Fine China sound. In other words, jangly, Johnny Marr-esque guitar melodies galore as well as bouncy basslines and Withem’s breathy voice imploring his listeners to find rest and help in turbulent times.

I Felt Called will be released by Velvet Blue Music on March 7, 2025.
