A day with a new Denison Witmer song is a good day, indeed. The singer/songwriter’s latest single was inspired by his love of nature and getting lost in his thoughts while hiking. In fact, Witmer actually wrote the song while camping, composing it at his campsite one evening.
Witmer’s relaxed lyrics (“Older and free to do as I please/Beholden to no one else for the first time in weeks”) and classical guitar melodies are enhanced by Sufjan Stevens’ lush production and arrangements, making it the perfect song for lazy autumn days and meandering country drives alike.
Witmer’s most recent full-length, American Foursquare, was released in 2020 by Asthmatic Kitty Records.
