“Precious” by Depeche Mode (Live in Mexico City)

The synth-pop legends deliver a banger from 2005’s Playing the Angel.

This week, synth-pop legends Depeche Mode released Memento Mori: Mexico City, the audio accompaniment to Depeche Mode: M, a documentary film that captures the band’s Mexico City shows from their “Memento Mori” tour. The live album’s a real treat, revealing that 40+ years have done nothing to diminish the band’s stage presence, starting with Dave Gahan’s baritone.

One of the concert highlights is this performance of “Precious” from 2005’s Playing the Angel. Gahan and bandmate Martin Gore — who wrote the song for his children as he and their mother were getting divorced — are in fine form here, and it’s clear that the massive crowd is loving every minute of it.

Depeche Mode: M played in theaters this past fall and is currently available on Blu-ray and DVD.
