Enigmatic Swedish disco chanteuse Sally Shapiro and producer Johan Agebjörn have regained the rights to their 2013 album, Somewhere Else, and to celebrate, they’ve released a 2025 reissue:
To celebrate this anniversary… we have reissued the album on limited album cassette (50 numbered copies that can be signed upon request — only a dozen left at the time of writing!). The tape also includes the bonus track “If You Ever Wanna Change Your Mind,” also previously unreleased on tape.
My favorite song on Somewhere Else is “Sundown,” a dreamy little number replete with flamenco guitar flourishes, woozy saxophone, Agebjörn’s pristine production, and of course, Shapiro’s wistful voice singing of heartbreak and unrequited love (“Oh please don’t go, I love you/Never mind, if you don’t think it would ever be our time/I’m sad cause there’s no fun to watch the sun going down/When I’m all alone”).
Shapiro and Agebjörn have promised some new music in the not-too-distant future. Until then, we can just keep grooving to “Sundown” and the rest of Somewhere Else.
