Trump Takes to Social Media to Poop on “No Kings” Protesters
This weekend, nearly seven million people participated in more than 2,700 “No Kings” rallies around the nation to peacefully protest Donald Trump. Not surprisingly, the president found all of that anti-Trump sentiment displeasing. What is surprising, though, is the manner in which Trump expressed his displeasure.
On the evening of October 18th, the President of the United States shared an amateurish AI-generated video of him piloting a fighter jet emblazoned with the words “King Trump” — while wearing a crown, natch — and dropping poop on protesters. (The video was created by a user named Xerias, who thanked Trump for posting the video.)
Yes, you read that correctly.
When confronted by millions of Americans peacefully exercising their constitutional right to protest his behavior, our president — who, for the record, is 79 years old — thought it perfectly appropriate to envision dropping shit on them. His target wasn’t political rivals like Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries — which would certainly be bad enough — but, rather, regular American citizens. And all to the strains of Kenny Loggins’ “Danger Zone.”
We have reached that point in our nation’s history where juvenile, edgelord, “for the lulz” behavior and actual shitposting now serve as official presidential messaging. (See also Vice President JD Vance’s AI video depicting Nancy Pelosi and others kneeling down to a be-crowned and sword-wielding Trump.) And Trump’s followers love it.
Over on Truth Social, Trump’s poop video was met with “King Trump” memes and comments like “I laughed so hard, I had an asthma attack” and “God I love this my wife and I are laughing our asses off.” Of course, any criticism of the video will inevitably be met with the tired defense that it’s satire when in fact, it’s just a sad and pathetic imitation — the sort of tacky, offensive response one resorts to when they have nothing thoughtful to offer.
Donald Trump traffics in so much crudity, and has done so much to lower and coarsen the standards of our public discourse, that it can be hard to make sense of it all. But certainly, this video — which, again, depicts Trump shitting on his fellow Americans — represents some sort of new low. (I hardly expect, however, any prominent Republicans to say as much, no matter how much they claim to care about decency and decorum.)
The “No Kings” protesters peacefully expressed their concerns over presidential authority and overreach — stuff that, by the way, I grew up hearing Republicans and conservatives wax apoplectic over time and again. But Trump treats any such concerns, and those who express them, with utter contempt. Are you worried about Trump deploying the American military to American cities or ICE disappearing people off the streets? If so, then just know that your president would sooner drop a turd on you than be held accountable or take your concerns seriously.
