The 7K Giveaway

I’m celebrating Opus’ recent milestone with giveaways for Opus subscribers.
7000

Back in July, I noted that Opus had crossed the 7,000 post mark, which feels like a pretty significant milestone. To celebrate the occasion, I’m doing three separate giveaways for Opus subscribers.

1) All Subscribers: Win Iria and Typeset in the Future

One randomly selected subscriber (paid or free) will win two favorites of mine:

  1. Tetsurō Amino’s Iria: Zeiram the Animation, a classic anime OVA from 1994 that was recently remastered and reissued on Blu-ray by Discotek Media.
  2. Dave Addey’s Typeset in the Future, an extremely detailed look at the typography and design in some of the greatest sci-fi movies of all time, including 2001: A Space Odyssey and Blade Runner.

This giveaway will work like a raffle. Paid subscribers get three “tickets” for the drawing while free subscribers get just one “ticket.” Thus, if you want to increase your odds of winning the Iria/Typeset in the Future bundle — and ensure Opus’ ongoing existence at the same time — become a paid subscriber today.

Disclaimer: This giveaway is not affiliated with or sponsored by Discotek Media, Abrams Books, Dave Addey, or any other party.

2) Paid Subscribers Only: Win a Seth T. Hahne Print

One randomly selected paid subscriber will win one of Seth T. Hahne’s beautiful Piranesi prints, inspired by Susanna Clarke’s delightful 2020 novel. I’ve been a fan of Seth’s work for years; he’s contributed lots of incredible artwork to Christ and Pop Culture and has self-published several comics and graphic novels that can be purchased from his online shop.

If you want a chance at winning the Piranesi print — it’ll look really nice on your wall, trust me — then become a paid subscriber today.

Disclaimer: This giveaway is not affiliated with or sponsored by Seth T. Hahne.

3) Free Subscribers Only: 12 Months of Opus

Five randomly selected free subscribers will receive complementary paid subscriptions for 12 months. This will give them access to all of the site’s paid features (e.g., playlists, podcast episodes). After 12 months, they can decide whether or not to continue their subscriptions at the standard pricing ($5/month or $50/year).

Fine Print: If you’re already a subscriber, then you’ve automatically been entered into those giveaways open to your subscription level (paid or free). If you’re not a subscriber, then you have all of August to subscribe to Opus and get entered. All winners will be selected and notified on September 1, 2023, and any physical prizes will be shipped after I’ve received the winners’ mailing addresses. The winners’ names will not be publicly announced for privacy purposes and a single subscriber can win only a single giveaway.
