“Cast Riddance (Reimagined)” by Dear Gravity

An even dreamier reimagining of an already dreamy song.

Mike Graff — aka, Dear Gravity — has released numerous singles and EPs over the years. As its name implies, the upcoming Earlyyears Reimagined collects a number of those early songs and remixes and reconfigures them. It’s all uniformly lovely stuff, but “Cast Riddance” is a clear highlight for me.

The original version of “Cast Riddance” appeared on 2019’s Shadows, Vol. I, and is filled with rich, twilit atmospherics that stretch on for over eight minutes. Although the song’s “reimagined” version trims off a couple of those minutes, it’s no less expansive thanks to contemplative piano notes and some dreamy guitarwork à la Robin Guthrie.

Earlyyears Reimagined will be released on December 6, 2024 by Echoes Blue Music, and will also feature remixes by The American Dollar, Music Within, Domy Castellano, and more.
