“Decay” by Slow Salvation

Velvet Blue Music’s upcoming release looks to be one of their dreamiest yet. Oh, and they’ve started a zine.

Velvet Blue Music has always had a strong release schedule, but the last year or two has felt particularly strong thanks to releases from Ronnie Martin, LN, Fine China, and Golf Slang (to name a few). And the label’s latest release looks to continue that trend.

Slow Salvation is the dreampop duo of Travis Trevisan (Tape Deck Mountain) and Christina Hernandez (Orion Lake). VBM will release their debut album, Here We Lie, later this summer but they’re whetting folks’ appetites with “Decay.” The six-and-a-half-minute single is absolutely packed to the gills with Trevisan’s shimmering, reverb-laden guitars and Hernandez’s gossamery vocals.

Here We Lie will be released on August 25, 2023.

In other VBM-related news, the label has started a zine titled Small Sounds Press that features interviews with Fine China and Unwed Sailor, reviews, and various articles. And just like the music zines of yore, it comes with a mix CD featuring unreleased songs by Fine China, Unwed Sailor, Adiós Cometa, LN, Charity Empressa, and others.
