Dune: Part Two’s New Trailer Is Suitably Epic, Intense

Everything suggests that Dune: Part Two will more than deliver on the first Dune’s promises.

The first Dune movie established an epic scope for its far-future space opera tale, and everything released so far for the sequel suggests it’ll definitely deliver on the first movie’s promises. Just feast your eyes on this latest trailer, which sets up the inevitable clash between young Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), now living in the brutal desert of Arrakis amongst the Fremen freedom fighters, and House Harkonnen, who killed Paul’s father and betrayed his house.

The trailer also introduces us to Shaddam IV (Christopher Walken), the Padishah Emperor of the Known Universe and gives us more glimpses of his daughter Irulan (Florence Pugh) as well as Austin Butler’s Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen. And it’s packed with some truly gorgeous visuals: the desolate landscape of Arrakis, sandworms, Feyd-Rautha’s gladiatorial combat, and battles between the Fremen and the Harkonnen. (As usual, io9 has an extensive breakdown of the trailer.)

Dune: Part Two arrives in theaters on November 3, 2023.
