Witness the First Trailer for George Miller’s Furiosa

The latest entry in the Mad Max franchise stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth.

I watched Mad Max: Fury Road with my oldest earlier this year, and he called it the craziest, weirdest movie he’s ever seen. And he’s not wrong; it’s completely over the top in every conceivable way, from the post-apocalyptic world-building to the jaw-dropping action sequences. And if you think that George Miller might rein things in for Furiosa — a prequel of sorts to 2015’s Fury Road — well, then you obviously don’t know George Miller.

Furiosa stars Anya Taylor-Joy as a younger Furiosa who’s trying to find her way back home to the Green Place of Many Mothers after being stolen by a biker gang led by the Warlord Dementus (a nigh-unrecognizable Chris Hemsworth). Soon enough, she finds herself caught up in a war between Dementus and Immortan Joe for control of the Citadel and its resources.

As evidenced by the above trailer, Furiosa has the same “going for absolute broke” vibe that made Fury Road such a modern classic. Then again, I would expect nothing less from the man behind the Babe movies.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga arrives in theaters on May 24, 2024.
