“If Tomorrow Never Comes” by Starsabout

Poland’s Starsabout clearly believe in quality over quantity. They’ve only released two singles since 2017’s Longing for Home, but both have been excellent. Released earlier this week, “If Tomorrow Never Comes” is further proof of the band’s knack for dreamy, shoegaze-inflected alternative rock.

Piotr Trypus’ yearning voice and guitar melodies are perfectly accented by Klaudiusz Bogusłowicz’s woozy saxophone as well as Joanna Ścibek-Trypus’ backing vocals. Given that it clocks in at just under seven minutes, the song spends much of its time spreading out languorously, weaving a sonic spell replete with loss and longing as Trypus sings “I’ve been walking through this barren land/Would you find me here/So I could give you my heart again?”

I hope we’ll see another full-length album from Starsabout sometime soon. In the meantime, I’m going to keep enjoying their singles as they’re released.
