New Subscriber Playlist: “Make Way for Falling Leaves”

I don’t know what it’s been like in your neck of the woods, but summer lasted far too long here in Lincoln, Nebraska. It wasn’t until mid-way through October that the temperatures finally dropped below 60°F, the skies finally got a little grayer, and the leaves finally began to change color.

Naturally, that put me in the mood for some autumn music. This month’s playlist — titled “Make Way for Falling Leaves” — is a soundtrack for cooler temperatures, gloomier skies, and leaves slowly falling to the ground. Running the gamut from folk and psychedelia to ambient and post-rock, the playlist’s songs are well-suited for both ambling walks through the countryside and settling into a comfortable chair with a warm blanket and equally warm beverage.

This month’s episode focuses on “Conquering the Romantic,” a lovely bit of autumnal dream pop that’s a perfect showcase for Robin Guthrie’s (Cocteau Twins) inimitable guitar stylings.
