It’s been a hot minute since NIIGHTS have released any new music. Their last album, Hellebores, was released all the way back in 2019. During that hiatus, singer Jenna Fournier has been focusing on Kid Tigrrr, and released her debut album Stoned + Animald last year.
But NIIGHTS have re-emerged with a solid new single titled “Statelines” that drowns Fournier’s “little girl lost” vocals under loads of heavily distorted riffs and pounding drums, to great effect. The song has a healthy shoegaze-y, MBV-esque gloss to it, though it’s very much its own thing — and is hopefully a sign of renewed activity from the Cleveland outfit.
