“Summermouth” by The Julies
The Philadelphia dreampoppers’ latest single makes me want to hear their upcoming album that much sooner.
“Summermouth” is the third single that The Julies have dropped this year, following April’s “The Heartbreak Life” and June’s “Black Metal,” and it’s more of the same from the Philadelphia dreampoppers.
And by “more of the same,” I naturally mean more bouncing basslines, shimmering shoegaze-y guitars, and thought-provoking lyrics that invite introspection. (“Summermouth” seems to be about the deleterious effects of social media on relationships, but I could be wrong.)
In other words, the sort of stuff that you can never really get too much of. And it bodes well for the band’s upcoming album and followup to 2023’s excellent Always & Always.
