Downside EP by Klank (Review)
This is a five song remix CD. No brand new songs appear as the remixes are of two songs that are on the full length CD. There are three versions of “Downside,” the original plus two remixes and then there are two remixes of Animosity.” The remixes, while still recognizable, are excellent examples of industrial music being a hybrid genre and showcase Klank’s incredible creativity.
One thing that you’ll notice, if you’ve heard Still Suffering, is that there is greater use of electronics vis-à-vis heavy guitars. My favourite song on the CD is the “Life After Death” remix of “Animosity.” It reminds me most of Circle of Dust’s “Parasite,” another song that I really like, in that it has a gothic, haunting feel to it. Overall, great production and song writing makes for an intense yet comforting journey through the imagination of Klank.
This CD is worth buying even if you have Still Suffering.
