“Action” Reviews

This is everything that I want from a Godzilla movie.

This film throws so much at you it’s nearly impossible to take in.

Though released 1988, Akira stills stands unrivaled as one of the landmarks of animation.

A quirky and fairly refreshing take on the typical “hitman” film.

For a movie that’s about a famous swordsman, we actually see very little of him.

For the most part, the fights are brutal and gory. But it’s good for the kitsch factor.

As far as mindless action flicks go, I’d probably prefer this to some musclebound action hero spouting cheesy dialog.

Chow Yun-Fat aside, the rest of the movie seems too unfocused, unexplained, and uninspired to be enjoyable.

A great, action-packed thriller that has definite influence from John Woo, on both visceral and emotional levels.

Jackie Chan’s finest moment?! It could very well be.

One of Donnie Yen’s worst, which is a shame because it had all the makings of a really great movie.

What’s this, a light-hearted criminal caper from the master of heroic bloodshed?

A confusing melange of story lines and silly characters that’s just too boring and contrived to be interesting.

Chow Yun-Fat’s tour de force balances bloody, over-the-top action with themes of honor and nobility.

If I must say one good thing about X, it sure aims high. But that just makes it all the more disappointing.

There were several times throughout the film where you’ll either shake your head in disbelief at how awful it is, or you’ll just find yourself wondering how Belt can be that cool.
